Is it objective, rational, scientific, even sensible to call someone 'telepathic'? Well, of course, most people would say, 'no; that's just science fiction, not science fact.' Yet, they would not stop to consider that we all can fly…Talk to other people who are not even there with us, who may even be in another nation, instantly…See people who are not there without having to exercise our imaginations…and so many other amazing things.
Some have said that a technology that is advanced enough becomes so similar to magic that they cannot be distinguished between. Thanks to what we have accomplished through science and technology we have been able to do things that people would have insisted to be impossible, nothing more than delusions of grandeur. Yet not only have we managed to explore the unchartered ocean depths but we have even walked upon the moon itself, and explored the universe. While this would astound the people of yesteryear, we ourselves notice its primitiveness as we envision other more advanced things in the future. With what we have learned we have harnessed the energy of the wind, water and even the sun. And most of us carry a small gadget that allows us to communicate with anyone, anytime, anywhere on earth.
Telepathy is thought of today, at least by most people, as some kind of 'magic'-and so, something mystical. Yet, history proves that all kinds of things that are science today were 'magic' back when few people understood them or they were believed to be impossible. So…why can't telepathy be another one of these natural phenomena that is simply written off by many as superstitious magic today because, as of yet, it hasn't been fully comprehended by science?
Telepaths are in fact studied scientifically in paraphysics and parapsychology. Paraphysicists and parapsychologists design experiments according to the scientific method to answer questions concerning telepathy; like all professional scientists (or as they are supposed to be), they are agnostic about the results they will get-they neither believe nor disbelieve in telepathy.
Oftentimes the results of the experiments are very intriguing. For something like telepathy to be considered by the science world to be a scientific fact it has to be possible to measure it, the results must be consistent, and the results must be repeatable. However, when it comes to telepathy the results are not always repeatable or consistent. While science then declares telepathy as improvable of unsubstantiated, others point out that perhaps they just haven?t invented the proper tests yet, since we still do not know or understand why some people are telepathic.
Is it possible for humans to use telepathic abilities, communicating with each other using only thought? After all, there are communications technologies which we can't see, hear, smell, touch or taste but are very real ? ever seen a radio wave? Of course not, but you know that they are real. Our minds are not radio transmitters, however.
The cornerstone for continued scientific study into the existence of telepathy is that our thought waves actually produce electrical and magnetic fields caused by our brains. Let us now attempt to put this into simpler terms, although it can be a bit complicated.
The brain consists of biochemical neurons that transmit electro-chemical impulses between its many different synapses. And, since these are electro-chemical impulses, they do generate minuscule but real, and measurable, electrical currents. Of course, these currents also create tiny magnetic fields. Keep in mind that there are thousands upon thousands upon thousands of synapses firing in the brain every second.
When you have electromagnetic fields, you have the possibility of communications-as our modern technology clearly proves. But, this brings us to another question: in these 'thought waves', is there truly content being carried, or is it all just 'white noise'? If there is content, can we be trained to control sending and receiving it? Is meditation so effective for so many because it's a method of tuning in the thought waves better, cutting out the noise and static, just as we do when we tune in a radio station and/or move the radio antenna around?
One potential problem is the weakness of these energy fields. They are weak enough to be drowned out by the many other, more powerful electrical and magnetic fields which are creates by the technology we use every day.
One question is whether it is possible to amplify these signals from our minds. It is already known that a spike in brainwave strength occurs when people are experiencing a state of heightened emotion; most commonly fear or pain.
When a mother who is far away from her child suddenly knows that her child is in danger, her synapses are firing more neurons simultaneously and parapsychologists have been able to document these brief instances of telepathy. This raises the question then that if we detect a spike in bio-electrical and bio-magnetic brainwaves, does that mean that there is a link between that and telepathic communication?
As you have no doubt become aware as you have read this, no scientific research has provided evidence that telepathy is an absolute fact. But that is the science of today and it is beginning to change. With an increase in studies we are seeing that telepathy does actually exist. And anyone can learn how to be telepathic if they receive the proper training.
