When we stop to take a look around ourselves at the world in which we live, we will see planes flying people all over the planet. Computers and other high tech devices communicate with each other. We live in a world where something as simple as a lighter can conjure up a flame in someone's hand. Yet, there are people who dismiss the possibility of telepathy as merely the stuff of fiction.
The late, great Arthur C. Clark said that any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic. So, in a sense, science and technology ARE magic; they allow us to conjure up things that were 'impossible' just a century ago. We draw electrical power directly from the sun. We carry around a small device that can allow us to communicate with anyone else who has a similar device anywhere on the planet instantly; and some people's small devices allow them to visit entire libraries while they sit on a park bench. But, of course, in a literal sense, this is all just science-not 'magic'. Right?
Those who talk about telepathy are typically regarded as mystics and their ideas are discounted by the majority of the population. However, is it really too farfetched to consider the idea of telepathy? This ability may just work in ways which we do not yet understand.
Para physics or parapsychology is an area of science tasked with the study of telepathic people. Although scientific tests and studies are always the preferred methods used, those conducting these experiments do not always appreciate the results of them.
And, some of their experiments have brought tantalizing results to light. Unfortunately, there has never been a set of telepathic experiments that gives measurable, consistent, and repeatable results. This leads many people to conclude that telepathy has been disproven. But, other researchers insist that we haven't yet designed the right experiments because telepathy is still so new to us.
So science has not succeeded in proving that telepathy does not exist, but how is it possible for people to communicate only with their brains and not involving any of the five known senses of sight, hearing, smell, taste and touch? They would have to be using a means that our senses cannot detect. Artificially speaking, we already communicate in a way that our senses cannot detect, by using radio waves. Although we cannot see, hear, smell, taste or touch them, we know that they exist.
..Or, is it? One thing that science does know and acknowledge is that there are electromagnetic waves generated by the brain called 'thought waves'. And researchers who have not dismissed telepathy say that this is the key insight that is needed to understand it.
The conventional wisdom in science is that human thought is 'merely' the result of a mass of biochemical neurons transferring electro-chemical impulses between different synapses-indeed; this has led some to conclude that consciousness is merely an 'illusion'. But, there is that electrical current that gets generated?and as small as it is, it's consistently and repeatedly measurable. Like all electrical currents, there is a proportional magnetic field that goes along with it. And the brain has tens of thousands of synapses activated at any given second.
So, now we are talking bio-electric and bio-magnetic fields-and we know very well that electrical and magnetic fields enable 'mystical' communications. But, within these electrical and magnetic waves, is there content or mere static? Is it possible to be trained to control these waves? Does something like meditation actually operate by shaping thought waves into meaningful communication?
Another problem could be the relative weakness of the brain's electromagnetic field. We have computers, cell phones, TV sets, stereos, and appliances all over the place today; and they all generate electromagnetic fields-stronger ones than the brain's, meaning they might interfere with the brain's transmission capacity.
However, it seems that when a person experiences extremely intense emotions, the brain's electromagnetic currents and fields spike momentarily. Could this be a way of boosting the brain's transmission powers?
Brief occurrences of telepathy have been documented in cases where a mother knows that her child is in distress even though they are apart from each other. During the heightened emotional state of the mother her synapses are firing more neurons simultaneously. It would certainly seem that a link exists between the spike in the bio-electrical and bio-magnetic waves and the occurrences of telepathy.
With the use of mainstream science there is just no way to prove that telepathy in hums exists beyond a shadow of a doubt. But we are seeing slow changes as science continues to increase its studies into telepathy. And with this increase in studies science is showing that telepathy does exist and anyone can learn to become telepathic with training.
